This year’s OEB conference had the pleasure of hosting a program of 30 under 30 years of age. This program was designed to recognize and celebrate young professionals whose work embodies the open, sustainable and inclusive learning spirit. This year’s cohort represents a new wave of changes manufacturers whose fresh and various perspectives dispute the status quo and inspiring learning communities around the world.

Our 30 delegates under the age of 30 had the opportunity to Discover the conference among the learning professionals with similar views, invited to speak during a session and had their own networking activities to extend their network. We extend our congratulations to each program delegate, and we look forward to what the future reserves for their career in the learning landscape.

We have received wonderful comments from our 30 -year -old cohort! Here, we share the words of some of the delegates and information on their OEB experience. Detailed reports from the delegates will be published in January, providing even deeper reflections on their trip.

“” I really enjoyed the 30 Under 30 program. It was particularly pleasant that we gathered before the conference. So that during the conference, we recognized ourselves, we could link more and more easily share our work, our visions and our ideas on online learning.

I hoped to see a more diverse program throughout the conference, in the sessions as well as in the content. An example was, one of Keynotes speakers, Payal Arora, shared his work on the AI inclusive laboratory of Utrecht University. She gave us an overview of the proxy and showed how languages, networks and hobbies can already give a lot of information on a person.

I mainly plunged into AI in education sessions, where one of the major recurring questions was: how to create more literacy of AI, especially in educational establishments and among teachers? The legislation on the AI Act which will make this compulsory and therefore this question more urgent. There remains a current discussion visible throughout many sessions. By approaching the question, how to educate our teachers on AI and how to make them appear and interest this subject? “”

“” I wanted to listen to different perspectives I don’t know. While I work and study rather in academic disciplines with AI technology, I tried to listen to what young professionals in the education sector think and say. So I could listen to that everyone had colorful opinions based on their own perspectives and experience.

The exchange of ideas and the expansion of the networks were very fast and effective. I have become close to some colleagues while others remained less known, but 30U30 was only the start of our long -term camaraderie, because we will progress more in our career, our labor market and professional activities.

I just thought of technology itself while considering education as other works of experts from which I am far away. However, I was able to match my personal history with the philosophy of education of many other colleagues. Thus, I could realize myself that my expertise and my interests can be integrated into education whenever appropriate methods meet the appropriate situations.

Therefore, everyone’s experience is unique and precious. Based on our first meeting at 30U30 2024, we can extend our ideas, projects and our philosophy to the world of education and technology. “”

“” My main learning of the conference was that to move forward, we must think more about how AI can improve learning, impact and positive results in society, so as not to focus too much on how AI changes us and our world. We must realize that we have an agency, that there is a number of power and that we can control in which direction the new technologies and the AI develop.

Being part of the 30 Under 30 program has been an incredible experience! I met and learned from some truly incredible people who have shown a great passion for their work and their vision for the future of learning. “”

“” The debate Thursday on student data was my highest point in the OEB program. It was not only entertaining – but the debate was a great way to make you think about this subject. It is a sensitive subject, but by highlighting the advantages and disadvantages, it stimulates you to seek the nuance yourself.

Inclusivity was a subject that was part of the conference, and I am happy that it was. Payal Arora’s speech was an excellent example. The keynote not only talked about the subject itself, but there were also solutions.

It has also become clear to me that you still see many separate innovations occurring in the education sector worldwide. We were talking a lot about innovation, less transformation and work together on this subject. In the Netherlands, we are working on digital transformation with all professional and training schools, universities of applied sciences and research universities in a national program. It has become clear that few countries have this.

The 30 Under 30 program was a great experience. I enjoyed it so much – to meet young people from around the world and share our visions. “”

Candy Adusei | Student, Stuttgart University

“” I loved the 30 Under 30 program! Frankly, it was a brilliant community. Each delegate deserved, and his desire to learn, and the gentleness was contagious. I was able to expand my network, including experts from various sectors.

I was happy to discover that most Edtech exhibitors were on board and made substantial progress to ensure that quality education reaches everything. Accessibility to education is one of the objectives to which we must strive, so we leave no one following technological progress. I have been able to have revealing conversations with many exhibitors about how they succeed.

As a mother, the plenary of openness opened my eyes to the state of education in the future in the midst of the AI revolution. Will our children be smarter, or will they have digital tools that will do everything for them, killing the spirit of innovation and the hunger for knowledge? Curiosity encourages research, and this contributes to the knowledge on which the world depends. If this curiosity is killed, what direction do we take? How to adopt AI’s capacities, while protecting the intelligence of posterity? Although I have the opportunity to ask this in the youth forum, I could not obtain sufficient answers to this question, because the answers given on “all the models of AI are not the same”, when the question concerned more the safeguard of the intellectual future of posterity.

Finally, I really enjoyed the learning battle, and winning the trophy was the icing on the cake. I was the last to go on stage because it took a while to work on this courage. Beautiful inge, and the wonderful participants who preceded me, inspired me to take the plunge. I was happy to finally be able to talk about my experiences as a student and on such a large scene! More importantly, I was delighted to be able to inspire educators to look at their students differently, to reconsider the human part of their work and to push them in the right direction. I was greatly honored. OEB24, to summarize, was a fantastic conference! “”

Dan Be Kim | Young Professional, Harvard Graduate School of Education

“” Next year, I would like to return to the OEB to accommodate a series of interactive and practical workshops in favor of the literacy of AI specific to the field to take advantage of a range of different AI applications for a complex task such as prices planning and project management! “”

Thank you all! Words of our OEB 30 under 30 delegates.
