Hamas rejected an Israeli request to extend the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire, said a senior official.

The militant group will only publish the remaining Israeli hostages that in the terms of the already agreed agreement, already agreed, said Mahmoud Mardawi on Sunday in Al Jazeera.

Under a plan advanced by the American envoy of the Middle East Steve Witkoff, who Israel Accepted, the first phase of the ceasefire agreement would continue through Ramadan and Passover, or until April 20.

Gaza Aid Trucks returns after the entry of the Israel blocks

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Office said earlier Israel would stop all the goods and supplies in Gaza After saying that Hamas refused to “accept Witkoff’s plan for having prosecuted talks, which Israel accepted”.

Hamas Condemned the decision to block aid to the enclave, appealing “a war crime and a flagrant attack” against a truce which took a year of negotiations before settling in January.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, a key mediator of the conflict, said that the plan was an attempt to use “famine as a weapon” and “a blatant and clear violation of humanitarian law”.

Saudi Arabia called Israel’s decision “an extortion tool”.

The first phase of the ceasefire, which expired on Saturday, saw an increase in humanitarian aid after months of increasing hunger.

Palestinians Mark Ramadan among the rubble

Under the American proposal, Hamas would release half of the hostages on the first day and the rest when an agreement will be concluded on a permanent cease-fire, said Netanyahu.

Hamas currently has 59 hostages, including 35 which would have died, of the 250 estimated captives taken to Gaza After his raid October 7, 2023 in southern Israel in which 1,200 people died.

The military offensive of Israel killed more than 48,000 Palestinians, according to Palestinian health officials, moved around 90% of the Gaza population and destroy the infrastructure and the health system of the territory.

Washington made no immediate comments, but Netanyahu said that Israel was entirely coordinated with the Trump administration and that the ceasefire continues only as long as Hamas continues to release hostages.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned that “any detangling of the front momentum created in the past six weeks risks repeling people in despair”.

The ceasefire has saved countless lives, the humanitarian organization said.

The UN humanitarian leader Tom Fletcher described Israel’s decision to “alarm”, noting that access to aid is registered in international humanitarian law.

Most of the two million Gaza residents depend on international aid due to the deprivation caused by the war.

About 600 aid trucks had entered daily since the start of the ceasefire on January 19, attenuating fears of the famine raised by international experts.

The MSF medical charitable body has accused Israel of using aid as a bargaining currency, which it described as “unacceptable” and “scandalous”.
