Collegial transfers increased 4.4% last fall, marking three years of increasing registration, according to a new report by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. With transfer registrations of 7.9% higher than the fall before Pandemic 2020, the students transferred represented approximately 13% of undergraduate students before the first year.

Transfer registrations have increased the most in community colleges compared to all other institutional sectors. But the conduct of this increase is also the number of students from an institution of two to four years – around 500,000 in the fall of 2024. Students transferred up were mainly interested in attending these two sectors:

  1. Professional schools (When 53.8% or more prices are in career and technical disciplines): growth was almost three times that of institutions where 35.7% or less price are in career and technical disciplines.
  2. Mainly online institutions experienced the modification as a percentage of the highest year from one year to another for the upward transfers of establishments from two to four years to 8.2%. This is almost six percentage points higher than the sector with the second highest transfer of transfer (four -year public colleges to 2.6%).

“The growth in transfers this fall indicates that students adjust the post -secondary objectives in response to the evolution of the conditions of education and the labor market,” said Doug Shapiro, executive director of the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.
